Ceramics I Course description:
Students will research primary forming processes and learn good craftsmanship as a foundation. Early projects will emphasize technique followed by projects with conceptual content. Students will be introduced to basic forming techniques, working on the potter’s wheel making clay and loading kilns.
Ceramics II Course description:
Students focus primarily working on the potter’s wheel. Students will demonstrate the ability throw basic forms moving towards designing and creating. Students will experiment with glaze and surface design. Through this understanding bind surface and glaze with form of vessel moving towards incorporating glazes and surface matches form. Instructor generates assignments on an individual basis.
Honors Ceramics 3,4 Course description:
Honors Pottery is an artistic exploration of self and global theories using clay and clay techniques as the primary media and process.
Class Projects should demonstrate the following
Student will reflect on growth and research in a journal.
Student will demonstrate evidence of professional and/ or non-mainstream ceramic artists.
Students will demonstrate the ability to communicate conceptual and technical aspects of their art.
Students will demonstrate the ability to communicate elements and principals of art.
Students are required to make art that is no less than 60% clay as its primary media.
Students will demonstrate the highest level of integrity and craftsmanship involved in the art making process.
